On Duping
There are lots of reasons to avoid buying new makeup. Maybe you want to save money, reduce consumption by participating in the under-consumption “trend”, get more use out of what you have, or just like the creative exercise. Maybe you don’t want to support certain companies for certain… π political reasons π. TL;DR, I’m not buying this new Too Faced Appley In Love palette right now but I’m in love with its color story so I tried to recreate it.
Disclaimer: not all these brands are necessarily ethical, the purpose of this was to dupe it for myself using other brands (a challenge, considering I have a lot of Too Faced eyeshadow!) and encourage others to do the same.
The Swatches

Weirdly, I believe the swatches for Slice, Slice Baby and Orchard Stroll are switched by mistake in the official photos, based on the shade descriptions and on the swatches I’ve seen creators post:

Final Thoughts
I really enjoyed this exercise and I don’t feel like I’m missing out by not buying the palette now. A few of the shades I struggled to find anything close to in my collection, and would be interested to hear if others have closer matches. I’ll probably do more of these in the future, so stay tuned if you’re interested.
I’d be curious to hear if anyone else is doing something similar right now–I find a lot of inspiration seeing others do panning projects and things like that, so please comment if you know any palette duping bloggers. Thanks for reading!
